Remains of Hasri Ainun Habibie arrived in Jakarta

The body of former first lady Hasri Ainun Habibie, the wife of former president B.J. Habibie arrived in Jakarta on early Tuesday morning where she will be buried on the same day.

News portal kompas.com reported that the body arrived at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport in East Jakarta at 4:58 a.m.

State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Halim Perdana Kusuma Airbase Chief First Marshal Bagus Puruhito, former Golkar Party chairman Akbar Tandjung and a number of ambassadors were present at the arrival.

The body would lie in state at Habibie’s private residence in South Jakarta until the burial, which will take place at 11 a.m. at Kalibata Heores’ Cemetery in South Jakarta.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and are expected to be present at the burial ceremony.

Ainun died at Ludwig-Maximillians-Universitat Hospital in Munich, Germany, on Saturday afternoon (night Jakarta time) due to an illness. She is survived by her husband and two sons. She was 72 years old.
