KPK faces 5 pretrial hearings on Monday

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) faces five pretrial hearings at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday, an official of the antigraft body says.

“Five pretrial hearings are scheduled for Monday. They are from Siti Tarwiyah, Ilham Arief Sirajudien, Suryadharma Ali, Suroso Armomartoyo, and Sutan Bhatoegana, KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Monday.

Tarwiyah is a witness in an alleged graft case involving former Bangkalan regent Fuad Amin Imron. She filed a pretrial hearing request against a prosecutor team’s charge, which accused her of being Fuad Amin’s mistress.

During an interrogation in Bangkalan, Madura, Tarwiyah said KPK prosecutors alleged that her car, house and land were gifts from Fuad.

The second plaintiff, Ilham, is a former Makassar mayor who was been named a suspect in an alleged graft case related to a water installation partnership scheme for the Makassar PDAM tap water company between 2006-2012.

Suryadharma, former religious affairs minister, has been named as a suspect for graft surrounding the 2012-2013 haj pilgrimage program.

Suroso, Pertamina’s former processing director, is a suspect in a bribery case to smooth the tetraethyl lead (TEL) supply contracts related to the state oil and gas company in 2004-2005, popularly known as the Innospec graft case.

Meanwhile, Bhatoegana was named a suspect for allegedly accepting bribes from officials of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) and several oil and gas companies in relation to the 2013 state budget review at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

Bhatoegana was chairman of the House of Representatives’s Commission VII, which oversees energy and mineral resources, for the period of 2009-2014 when the case occurred. (ebf)(++++)
